Cyber-SMYLe was opened by Assembly Member, and the then E-commerce Minister, Andrew Davies (Swansea West) after a grant was awarded from BBC’s Children in Need in July 2002. It has since been used for IT and online educational and creative purposes by young boys and girls weekend gatherings.
During October 2003 half-term school holidays, SMYLe arranged a 5-day IT course run by an experienced and qualified tutor from Swansea College, on the essential MS Office XP skills.
Among the skilled acquired included: Word processing (MS Word), Database Systems (MS Access), Spreadsheet (MS Excel) Presentations (MS PowerPoint) and Web Site Developments (MS FrontPage).
The lucky 8 girls and 8 boys who registered really enjoyed the experience and received a certificate from the tutor for attending the course.
